Damen Shipyards Group has delivered three state-of-the-art tugs as part of Fairplay Towage Group’s fleet modernization program. The new units, consisting of one RSD Tug 2513 (Fairplay-98) and two ASD Tugs 2312 (Fairplay-86 and Fairplay-87), have already been integrated into the group’s operations.

One of the ASD Tug 2312s was assigned to Germany’s Louis Meyer under a bareboat charter contract, and will also join the Fairplay Towage fleet. The vessels arrived in the port of Hamburg aboard the HLV UHL Finesse, after being transported from Damen’s shipyards in China and Vietnam via a secure logistics system that ensures their delivery in optimal conditions.

Tugboat technology to reduce emissions

In line with sustainability goals, the new units are equipped with Damen Marine’s Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system. This technology reduces NOx emissions NOx emissions emissions by 80% and reduce noise levels to 45 dB(A), ensuring compliance with IMO Tier III regulations.

In addition, the tugs have additional packages such as the FiFi-1 fire suppression system and solutions for operations in extreme climates, including winterization and LNG configurations. These features increase the vessels’ operational versatility and adaptability to multiple port scenarios.

Advance production and comprehensive after-sales support

Thanks to Damen’s stock accumulation strategy, the construction of the vessels construction of the vessels construction began even before the official signing of the contracts. This planning allowed for accelerated delivery in less than nine months from signing in March 2025.

The tugs will be backed by Damen Services Germany, located in Hamburg, which will provide full support throughout the entire operational lifecycle. This includes maintenance, emergency response, training and spare parts supply for customers in Germany, Poland and the Baltic countries.

With these additions, Fairplay Towage reinforces its fleet with more uniform, efficient units aligned with international standards, consolidating its sustainable operation capacity in Northern Europe.
