Chinese technology company Zhongke Haina has taken a decisive step by announcingthe official entry of its sodium batteries into the commercialization stage. With this transition, the company not only culminates more than a decade of development, but also establishes a concrete offering of market-ready products intended for both energy storage and electric vehicle applications.

Fifteen years of development to market

Since 2011, Zhongke Haina has gone through three key stages: first, with research into electrode materials, then with pilot production and application testing, and finally with the construction of large-scale production lines.

This process now culminates with the commercial launch of four differentiated products that are already in the production and distribution phase.

Four sodium batteries for different energy segments

Among the launches is the MP10 battery, designed for vehicle start/stop systems. It has a capacity of 10 Ah and promises reliable performance in extreme temperature conditions, with a service life that matches that of the vehicle.

In the field of large-scale storage, the HE240 cell (240 Ah) has passed two years of testing and is already supplying power plants in China. For frequency regulation and distributed storage solutions, the NE170 (170 Ah) improves energy absorption capacity in hybrid configurations by 60%.

Finally, the MP200 battery, focused on commercial vehicles, has been integrated into the electric tractor. electric tractor King Long XMQ4252, developed together with King Long Heavy Truck. This model combines charging efficiency and reduced operating costs, which has earned it inclusion in the official catalog of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Industrial capacity and strategic alliances

Zhongke Haina has consolidated a production capacity for electrode materials in volumes of tens of thousands of tons and lines of GWh-scale battery cell lines.

In addition, it maintains key alliances with firms such as Yuheng Battery and Mianyang Lithium Source, strengthening its supply chain and ensuring product quality and stability.

From commercialization to large-scale production

The company projects that, by 2028, the sodium battery industry will reach a level of mass production on a gigawatt-hour scale. This would transform sodium-ion technology into a key component of the global energy ecosystem, with applications in strategic sectors such as transportation, power generation and storage.

Zhongke Haina will also continue to invest in R&D to expand the capabilities of its cells, diversify application scenarios and contribute to a more sustainable energy transition through technologies that are more economical than lithium.
