Fortuna Mining Corp. has revealed new drill results from the South Arc of the
The discovery is part of an active campaign that already totals 63 wells drilled, with more than 9,600 meters of exploration underway. According to the company, this data will be crucial for the next resource estimate, scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
Move towards feasibility with solid foundations
The Diamba Sud project is in the preliminary economic assessment (PEA) stage and has attractive financial indicators. Fortuna estimates an after-tax net present value (NPV) of US$563 million and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 72%, calculated with a gold price of US$2,750 per ounce.
The company plans to move towards a feasibility study in the coming months, with a view to a construction decision in the second quarter of 2026. These latest drilling results reinforce the potential of the South Arc as a growth hub within the asset.
Additional reservoir intercepts
In addition to DSDD574, other wells revealed significant grades:
- DSDD555: 6.8 g/t gold over 35.5 meters
- DSDD558: 8.8 g/t gold over 14.4 meters
- DSDD563: 5.8 g/t gold over 20.8 meters
- DSDD584: 5.5 g/t gold on 17 meters
These intercepts add to a drilling network that is actively expanding to the southwest, east and south of the Southern Arc, where mineralization remains open in multiple directions and at depth.
West Africa, Fortuna’s strategy
These results come at a time when Fortuna is redirecting its strategy towards mid-tier gold assets in West Africa, having exited operations in Mexico and Burkina Faso. With projects also active in Argentina, Côte d’Ivoire and Peru, the Canadian miner is looking to position the Diamba Sud project as a pillar of its future growth, leveraging both the geological potential and operational stability of Senegal.
Next steps
- Estimated resource actualization for Q1 2026
- Feasibility study underway
- Projected construction decision by Q2 2026
The combination of high grades, mineralized continuity and robust economic projections places the Diamba Sud project as one of the most promising in Fortuna Mining’s African portfolio.
