Multinational logistics company Maersk announces the opening of a new ground freight station in Savannah, Georgia. The facility would improve regional connectivity and consolidates its integrated network in the United States.

The logistics network and its connection to the main markets in the southeast of the world.

The new facility is strategically located near the Port of Savannah and with immediate access to I-95 and I-16, the ground station allows for a streamlined connection to southeastern cities such as Atlanta, Jacksonville, Charleston and Charlotte. This move dramatically improves the efficiency of pickup and delivery(PU&D) operations, bringing greater speed and control to customers in the region.

The Savannah facility joins other recent Maersk investments in land-based logistics infrastructure, such as the facilities opened in Lake City, Georgia, and in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, Texas. Together, these facilities form an interconnected regional ecosystem designed to offer end-to-end logistics solutions.

The new facility has three loading docks and a dedicated transportation fleet. This allows Maersk to operate under an integrated logistics model with a single point of contact, decreasing the complexity of supply chains and providing greater traceability and resilience for its customers in North America.

With more than 65 land freight facilities in the region, the company continues to strengthen its presence with infrastructure designed to integrate seamlessly into global trade routes. This effort is part of its strategy to ensure more efficient and sustainable supply chains, in line with its goal of achieving zero net GHG emissions by 2040.

Bob Livingston, head of Maersk’s North American inland freight operations, said Savannah represents a strategic piece in the evolution of its logistics network. The new ground station improves delivery times, and establishes greater operational reliability.
