Offshore wind energy developers in the Netherlands have awarded Norwegian company Føn Energy Services a five-year operation and maintenance contract, focusing on IRM services and subsea surveys on a total of 303 wind turbines.
Strategic agreements for the maintenance of wind farms
Eneco, together with Shell, Ecowende and other owners, consolidated the maintenance of six offshore wind farms through a joint tender. The strategy aims to reduce operational complexity and improve planning by coordinating Balance of Plant(BoP) servicesacross assets.
The portfolio includes the parks Borssele 3 and 4(Blauwwind), Borssele 5(Two Towers), Eneco Luchterduinen, Hollandse Kust Noord(CrossWind), Hollandse Kust West VI(Ecowende) and Prinses Amaliawindpark(Eneco).
The contract extends for overwater inspections, repairs and maintenance(IRM), along with subsea surveys via remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).(ROV). These activities are key to ensuring the reliability of the wind turbines and ancillary infrastructure that make up the Balance of Plant.
With a five-year term starting in 2025, the agreement consolidates Føn as a strategic service provider to the European offshore wind industry.
Eneco, as the main operator, led the integration process of the contract, seeking synergies between the different owners. The multinational Shell and the Ecowende consortium join as relevant players in the energy transformation of the region.
