EDF and OpCore are about to start the construction of a data center data center in Europe. largest data center in Europe. The site chosen, the former Montereau-Vallée-de-la-Seine thermal power plant, symbolizes the conversion of industrial land to critical digital uses for the continent.

Expanding data center

OpCoreowned by Iliad Group and InfraVia Capital Partners, and EDF have entered into exclusive negotiations to develop this infrastructure, which will represent an investment of approximately 4 billion euros. The land, owned by EDF, allows a fast connection to the electricity grid, a key element for the accelerated project timelines.

With a capacity of several hundred megawatts, the future digital campus will accommodate computing-intensive technologies, essential to the development of the artificial intelligence sector in France and Europe. The center will be a strategic node for strengthening digital sovereignty on the continent. Sustainable infrastructure and local development

The project contemplates an energy-efficient execution with strong local integration. By reusing already industrialized land, the environmental impact is reduced, while generating direct and indirect jobs in the region. It is scheduled to come into operation in 2027, benefiting from the accelerated grid connection mechanism promoted by the French government for strategic infrastructures.

Institutional support has been overwhelming. Government representatives have highlighted the role of this investment in the reindustrialization of the country and in the national IA strategy.
