The energy company ENGIE Chile strengthens its presence in the center of the country after being awarded three strategic electricity transmission projects in the framework of the public bidding process of Decree 13/2025. This advance strengthens its participation in the National Transmission System through works that will improve the electricity infrastructure between the Metropolitan Region and the Maule Region.

New substations and power transmission projects

As part of its growth strategy, ENGIE Chile will develop the Huelquén and El Peral substations in the Metropolitan Region, together with the Quelmen substation in the Maule Region. These facilities will integrate transformers of between 30 and 50 MVA and connection yards at 66 kV and 110 kV voltages, as well as disconnections in critical lines such as Codegua-Alto Jahuel, La Florida-Tap Vizcachas and San Fernando-Teno.

The awarding of 100% of the proposals submitted by the company during the economic opening on November 4 reflects a clear focus on strengthening the national electricity transmission grid.

With more than 2,600 kilometers of transmission lines and 32 substations in operation in Chile, ENGIE is consolidating its role as a strategic operator of transmission lines and 32 substations. strategic operator in regional energy development. To this is added the execution of 24 additional kilometers under construction and its first transmission operation in the Maule region, extending its reach beyond the north of the country to the heart of the Chilean electricity system.

This progress in these regions is part of a territorial deployment strategy that connects assets from Valparaíso to Biobío. It is also part of a broader operation of the ENGIE group in South America, where it has 56 active substations and more than 5,800 km of lines installed between Brazil, Peru and Chile.
