BNZ expands its solar presence in Almeria with three new photovoltaic plants

The three new solar plants will prevent the emission of about 48,873 tons of CO₂ per year.

BNZ has inaugurated three new solar solar plants in Almeriareinforcing its commitment to Andalusia as a strategic axis in its renewable development plan. The complexes, called Ventura, Terrera and Hornosol, have a total installed capacity of 150 megawatts and are part of a strategy that prioritizes sustainability, energy efficiency and commitment to the environment.

The company already has assets in Cádiz, Jaén, Murcia and Extremadura, and now consolidates its presence in Almería with these new developments. The plants will prevent the emission of around 48,873 tons of carbon dioxide per year, a figure equivalent to tens of thousands of commercial flights.

Soon, the plant will be added Alhamillaplant, which will increase BNZ’s capacity in the province to 182 MW.

Commitment to biodiversity and circular economy

During the construction phase, direct and indirect jobs were generated, and in parallel, environmental actions were activated to protect the natural environment. These included an ecological corridor near the Barranco de Burbano ravine, nesting boxes and bird shelters, as well as ponds for steppe species. In addition, three hectares of cereal were planted to favor the local fauna.

Beyond environmental impacts, BNZ maintains an active policy of integration with the communities. On a cultural level, it has sponsored the Almería Western Film Festival, and on a social level, it has collaborated with DOWN España by promoting the Fortaleza Employment with Support project, aimed at promoting the inclusion of people with Down syndrome in the region.

A growth plan with a European outlook

With a presence also in Italy and Portugal, the company aims to reach 2 GW of renewable capacity in Europe. renewable capacity in Europe. Spain is one of the key markets, and the developments in Almeria represent a firm step in that direction.
