In the private port of Hereke, Turkey, Nuh Çimento has started operations of a Liebherr LPS 420 electric crane, consolidating its modernization strategy to meet the energy and logistics challenges of the sector. This new addition replaces an LPS 400 that had been in continuous operation since 1999, marking a generational leap in port technology.

The LPS 420 features a fully electrified drive system, reducing fuel consumption and minimizing emissions in loading operations. Its design, backed by Liebherr’s closed hydraulic circuit and Litronic control system, facilitates precise and efficient handling even in high-volume conditions.
This technology can handle up to 1,500 tons per hour and lift loads of up to 124 tons, making it an ideal choice for abrasive materials such as clinker and cement. Its installation was supervised by Liebherr experts, ensuring its integration without affecting the pace of exports.
With the capacity to operate vessels of up to 80,000 tons and handle 5 million tons of dry bulk cargo per year, the port of Nuh Çimento plays a key role in Turkish foreign trade. The 595-meter quay and automated loading system enable a steady flow of materials to more than 40 international markets.
The infrastructure is complemented by a 300-meter subway tunnel that connects dock operations with industrial facilities, streamlining the transfer of materials and reducing cycle times. This high-performance environment demands reliable, quiet and low-maintenance equipment, key features of the LPS 420.
Nuh Çimento’s decision to rely once again on Liebherr responds to a two-decade relationship based on technical performance and specialized support. With more than 130 LPS units delivered globally, the German manufacturer consolidates its presence as a strategic supplier for industrial terminals.
For the cement company, the constant availability of its cranes is essential to maintain its delivery schedule. In this regard, Liebherr’s regional service network ensures quick responses and on-site assistance, which are key factors in a competitive and regulated environment.
The replacement of the LPS 400 with a more efficient version not only aims to improve immediate performance, but also to prepare the port for upcoming environmental requirements. The LPS 420 operates with lower noise and vibration levels, improving both working conditions and the overall sustainability of the site.
