The Heat-Flex AEB industrial insulation system developed by Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine has been awarded two outstanding energy industry recognitions: the Gulf Energy Information Excellence Award 2025 and the Vaaler Award 2025 given by Chemical Processing.
These awards highlight the system’s effectiveness in eliminating corrosion under insulation corrosion under insulation (CUI), a persistent and costly problem for energy asset operators. Unlike traditional mineral-based insulation, Heat-Flex AEB forms a closed-cell insulating film that significantly reduces moisture absorption and maintains thermal efficiency even in extreme conditions.
A solution that replaces bulky systems
Designed for storage tanks, piping, valves and process vesselsHeat-Flex AEB acts as an advanced thermal barrier that retains process heat without creating a corrosion-prone zone. This design eliminates the need for bulky mineral coatings and reduces the material resources required, offering a more sustainable alternative for the industry.
The Gulf Energy Information award recognizes technologies that drive efficiency, safety and sustainability in the oil and gas industry. oil and gas. The Vaaler Award recognizes innovations that improve performance and profitability in chemical plants.
Both organizations agreed in highlighting the system’s ability to extend the useful life of assets, minimize operational risks and contribute to reducing the carbon footprint.
Operational and environmental advantages
In addition to its thermal resistance up to 177 °C (with excursions to 204 °C), Heat-Flex AEB reduces the risk of burns to personnel, making it a complete solution from an operational point of view. It also helps to maintain constant temperatures, even when there is prolonged exposure to aggressive environments or humidity, which represents a direct improvement in safety and energy efficiency.
With this double distinction, Sherwin-Williams consolidates its leadership in the development of technical coatings for the protection of industrial assets in sectors such as energy, chemical processing and hydrocarbon transportation.
