TGS signs strategic contract for reservoir monitoring in Norway

The company is extending its 4D seismic and permanent monitoring services on the Norwegian continental shelf until 2030.
Contrato estratégico de TGS en Noruega para monitoreo sísmico

The company TGS, a specialist in data for the energy sector, announced the extension of a strategic contract for the provision of reservoir monitoring services on the Norwegian continental shelf, having a duration of 5 years, with an option for 5 more.

What services will be provided?

The agreement provides for the continuity of services focused on 2 key technologies:

  • Permanent Reservoir Monitoring (PRM): A network of fixed sensors on the ocean floor that constantly listen and monitor what is happening in the reservoir. This allows to know how the oil/gas is moving, if there are pressure changes, etc., in real time.
  • 4D Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) studies: Nodes (OBN) on the seafloor that act as highly sensitive microphones that emit seismic waves and record echoes to create a 3D picture of how the reservoir has changed from one measurement to the next. This is crucial for maximizing extraction and managing the reservoir efficiently.

TGS, end-to-end data provider for the energy sector

The Norwegian continental shelf has established itself as one of the hotspots for energy exploration in Europe. With this contract extension, TGS strengthens its role as a strategic partner in the sustainable development of subsea resources through advanced geophysical intelligence solutions.

With a global presence, TGS offers a robust portfolio of data, studies and technology platforms for companies in the energy sector. Its worldwide library of geoscience information and offshore data acquisition capabilities make the company a key partner in exploration, production and subsurface analysis.
