On Tuesday, November 18, Petrobras signed new agreements that consolidate its role as a key player in the territorial development of the region of influence of the Presidente Bernardes Refinery (RPBC), in Cubatão (SP).
With a total investment of R$ 29.3 million, the company will finance three projects selected by its Socio-environmental Program, focused on generating income, strengthening education and conserving local biodiversity.
Social projects with direct impact on the community
The“Sustainable Economy, Associated Work and Social Participation” initiative, developed by the Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (DIEESE), will support entrepreneurship in vulnerable communities in Cubatão. Women, young people and fishermen will receive training in food, marketing and handicrafts, in addition to support for local microenterprises.
The second project,“Transforming Tomorrow”, implemented by Cenpec, focuses on children and adolescents in Cubatão, São José dos Campos and Sarzedo. Music, dance and environmental education workshops will be offered, together with training for educators and professionals from the rights guarantee system.
The third initiative,“Red Guará“, which is being carried out by Nudaer, seeks to restore mangroves, monitor species such as the scarlet ibis and raise public awareness through environmental education workshops. This project will operate mainly in Cubatão and Santos.
Vocational training and technological inclusion
The RPBC region is also a beneficiary of the Petrobras’ Autonomy and Income Program, which foresees courses in boilermaking, mechanics, and general services until 2028. Currently, 200 students are already enrolled, out of a projected total of 1,030 places for Cubatão.
During the symbolic signing ceremony, Petrobras will deliver refurbished computers to seven community and educational organizations. This action is part of its digital inclusion program, which has already distributed more than 18,000 computers since 2021.
Statewide expansion of the Socio-Environmental Program
In São Paulo, the program has 22 active projects that directly benefit more than 43,000 people, covering topics such as education, environmental conservation conservation, and quality of life. Petrobras reaffirms its commitment to act beyond its oil operation, contributing to the social well-being of the communities where it operates.
