In a seminar for the future of the regional logistics ecosystem, Puerto Antofagasta was the protagonist in the conference “Antofagasta’s port logistics challenges: How to make our territory more efficient for the future“, organized by El Mercurio de Antofagasta. The activity brought together authorities, representatives of companies in the sector and public-private actors.
The Port of Antofagasta bets on logistics efficiency
The general manager of Puerto Antofagasta, Carlos Escobar Olguín, addressed the progress and logistical challenges of the regional port infrastructure, mentioning its connection with strategic sectors such as mining, lithium, copper, copper, copper and lithiumand green hydrogen, and foreign trade. He also referred to the role of the port in the integration of the Bioceanic Corridor and its contribution to territorial competitiveness.
During his presentation, Escobar reinforced the importance of the “Regional Port Complex” concept, which promotes the articulation between the public ports of Antofagasta and Mejillones. This approach seeks to optimize the use of infrastructure, improve connectivity and increase the efficiency of the logistics system in the north of the country.
The event was attended by actors such as the Seremi de Obras Públicas, Ferrocarril de Antofagasta a Bolivia(FCAB), Complejo Portuario Mejillones, Ferronor and companies in the sector such as SQM. All agreed on the need for sustainable and collaborative logistics, considering intermodality, environmental care and operational efficiency.
Puerto Antofagasta reaffirmed its commitment to a shared vision between the public and private sectors and the community, to promote modern logistics at the service of the integral development of Antofagasta and its surroundings. The event made it possible to align views on the need to consolidate a regional logistics ecosystem adapted to global and local challenges.
