Ocean Power Technologies(OPT) has taken a strategic step by partnering with Mythos AI to integrate an artificial intelligence-based autonomy system and enhance its autonomous maritime capabilities, into the company’s fleet of WAM-V autonomous surface vehicles and PowerBuoy platforms.

Technology integration and autonomous maritime capabilities

In envisioning this partnership, OPT will integrate Mythos AI’s advanced autonomy software into its ocean platforms, combining specialized hardware, power capacity and real-time processing. The goal: increased operational resilience, adaptive learning and enhanced situational awareness in offshore missions.

Initial deployment of this technology is planned for the first quarter of 2026. The new capabilities are expected to enable everything from obstacle avoidance to multi-vehicle coordination and dynamic buoy-to-vehicle collaboration.

OPT is moving towards an integrated ecosystem that unites energy platforms, sensors and intelligent navigation software. The synergy with Mythos AI positions the company at the forefront of the development of modular and persistent maritime systems.

Philipp Stratmann, CEO of OPT, noted that this integration will allow them to offer scalable and customizable solutions while maintaining the flexibility required by complex maritime environments. For his part, Mythos AI highlighted the potential of OPT’s systems as a solid foundation for expanding the limits of autonomy at sea.

This agreement aligns with OPT’s strategy to deliver smart technologies that optimize the safety and sustainability of ocean operations. The company seeks to support its customers to operate more efficiently through the use of real-time data, clean energy and advanced automation.

With this integration, OPT not only strengthens its commercial offering, but also expands its reach in a market that increasingly values autonomy, adaptability and reduced human intervention in maritime operations.
