The Sloanea field, located in Block 52 offshore Suriname, has been declared commercial by PETRONAS and Staatsolie, marking a strategic step towards the South American country’s energy transformation.

The Declaration of Commerciality (DoC) for the Sloanea field consolidates the economic potential of this discovery and enables its transition to the development phase, pending a final investment decision. The Sloanea-1 discovery, made in 2020, laid the technical and geological groundwork for this positive assessment.

PETRONAS Suriname E&P BV, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Malaysian company, operates Block 52 with an 80% interest, while the remaining 20% is held by Paradise Oil Company. is in the hands of Paradise Oil Companya subsidiary of Staatsolie.
