Pemex reuses dry gas and avoids the flaring of 35 million cubic feet of gas

Nuevo Pemex Gas Processing Complex improves energy efficiency with portable motor compressors to reduce emissions and costs
Pemex evita quema de gas seco en el CPG Nuevo Pemex

Pemex, Mexico’s state-owned oil company, has implemented the use of portable motor compressors to take advantage of the gas that was previously simply flared into the air within the same operating cycle at its Nuevo Pemex Gas Processing Complex (CPG), located in Tabasco, avoiding the flaring of around 35 million cubic feet per day (mmpcd).

Technology for efficiency

In the gas processing plants, such as the Nuevo Pemex CPG, there is oftensuch as the Nuevo Pemex CPG, there is often a surplus of dry gas left over that cannot be easily processed or transported. The traditional solution to dispose of this surplus gas is to burn it in giant flares, which pollutes the environment and wastes an energy resource.

Portable motor compressors are equipment that compress waste gas, reincorporating it into the process instead of releasing it into the environment, which generates an immediate impact on the reduction of polluting emissions. In addition, by reducing the continuous flaring of gas, the useful life of critical components is extended. critical components such as burner nozzles and instrumentation, which in turn reduces unscheduled maintenance downtime.

Tangible results

Among the operational benefits for the complex are:

  • Emissions reduction
  • Ecological balance
  • Normative compliance
  • Reduced equipment wear
  • More industrial safety

Energy leadership from Tabasco

With this type of actions, the Nuevo Pemex CPG is positioned as a model of modern management, where technological innovation translates into cleaner, more efficient and profitable operations.

Likewise, the oil company reinforces its role as a strategic state-owned company, with the capacity to adapt to the global challenges of climate change and the demand for cleaner energy, without compromising its productivity.
