Australian miner Larvotto Resources has officially signed PYBAR Mining Services as the company responsible for the subway development of the Hillgrove project, located in New South Wales. This contract marks a key step forward for the reactivation of the site, which is emerging as a strategic source of antimony and gold.

PYBAR to lead operations underground for 4 years

Following a competitive bidding process, PYBAR was selected to execute nearly 20 kilometers of subway works. This will include ramps, lateral access, ground support and haulage works in the Metz, Garibaldi and Clarks Gully areas. The initial duration of the contract is four years, with the possibility of extension.

The company will be responsible for providing equipment, skilled labor and regulatory management, while complying with its comprehensive health and safety system. This expertise is key to meeting Larvotto’s timeline, which plans to start commercial production in 2026.

The PYBAR contract is in addition to the work already awarded to the MACA-Interquip-Mintrex (MIQM) consortium for the modernization of the processing plant under an EPCM scheme. Both initiatives are designed to complement each other and accelerate entry into operations.

Hillgrove to contribute to global antimony market

It is estimated that Hillgrove will annually produce about 40,500 ounces of gold and 14,000 tons of antimony concentrate, equivalent to about 5,000 tons of refined metal. This would represent about 7% of the world’s supply of antimony, a mineral classified as critical for industrial safety and energy transition.

Project financing was secured through an equity placement of A$70 million and a US$105 million secured bond issue.

Consolidation of key alliances for Larvotto

Ron Heeks, Larvotto’s CEO, noted that the alliance with PYBAR reinforces the company’s commitment to operational excellence.

PYBAR brings a collaborative philosophy and a proven track record in similar projects.

He stated.

This appointment aligns with Larvotto’s strategy to establish a network of reliable partners in the execution of Hillgrove.
