GE Vernova announced the acquisition of Prolec GE, completing the purchase of the remaining 50% held by the Mexican group Xignux. This transaction strengthens the new owner’s presence in the growing electrification market and enhances its ability to respond to the demand for grid technology in the North American market.
Expansion after Prolec GE acquisition
With this integration, GE Vernova seeks to accelerate its growth in the electrification segment, as this is the area of greatest expansion within the company. The purchase is for US$5.275 billion, financed equally between cash and debt, and is expected to close in mid-2026, subject to regulatory approval.
Prolec GE is now consolidated as an integral part of GE Vernova, maintaining its focus on electrical transformer manufacturing. manufacturing electrical transformers and other and other essential equipment for grid infrastructure, operating with some 10,000 employees in seven global industrial centers, including five in the United States.
The economic projection for 2025, with estimated revenues of US$3 billion and an adjusted EBITDA margin of close to 25%, strengthens the operating value of this acquisition. This purchase represents a consolidation of capabilities at a time when electrification is becoming a priority. From Xignux, the group reaffirmed its commitment to Mexico and its intention to continue expanding its other lines of business, while recognizing the value generated over nearly three decades of collaboration with GE.
