Bluewhale Offshore announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with OOS Group to acquire a majority stake in OOS International, which will create BlueOOS, a new entity specializing in offshore accommodation, heavy lift, field maintenance and decommissioning services.

What will the new entity do?

OOS International, which will be renamed BlueOOS as part of the agreement, will assume full operational responsibility and will have an integrated fleet consisting of three semi-submersible accommodation and heavy lift units, one dedicated semi-submersible accommodation unit and two liftboats.

It will also be responsible for providing services such as floating hotels for workers on oil or wind power platforms, operating giant cranes to install or repair heavy components at sea, or dismantling old platforms.

The new company will focus its operations in strategic offshore basinswith an emphasis on Brazil, Asia-Pacific and West Africa, to facilitate transition and leverage existing contracts, as both companies have a presence in these regions.

What are the advantages of this union?

This transaction follows the move made in early 2025, when Bluewhale Offshore announced a consolidation process with Ocean Challenger to bring together a fleet of 14 high-end units.

In addition, the alliance comes at a time when projections call for the global offshore and subsea services market to grow from $15.56 billion in 2024 to about $27.97 billion in 2034, opening a window of opportunity for established operators.

Operational integration with focus on HSE

Over the coming months, priorities will be focused on executing a disciplined integration, ensuring the continuity of ongoing projects and aligning operational practices, placing Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) as the cornerstone of all activities.

The next few months will be key to consolidate the new brand, strengthen relationships with customers and shipyards, and materialize the benefits of this alliance for the global energy sector.
