The American Bureau of Shipping(ABS) has granted approval in principle to Samsung Heavy Industries‘(SHI) SnapWind float, a semi-submersible design intended to offshore wind turbines 15 MW offshore wind turbines.

The platform integrates a passive ballast system andoptimized mooring lines, ensuring high performance even in adverse sea conditions. In addition, its concept is execution-oriented, designed for projects with limited space, skilled labor and access to heavy lifting equipment.
Miguel Hernandez, ABS Senior Vice President Global Offshore, mentions that the collaboration with SHI consolidates ABS’ position as a reference in floating platform certification.
