IOCS Srl technology to optimize offshore systems in terminals

Share

During the SLOM 2025 event in Panama, Davide Contino, CEO of IOCS Srl, shared his vision on the present and future of offshore systems, addressing key issues such as predictive maintenance, digitization, customization of solutions and environmental commitment.

IOCS CEO's experience and vision

With more than 30 years of experience in the Oil & Gas sector, Davide Contino has led IOCS Srl from Italy as a company specialized in the design, supply and support of critical components for floating terminals and mooring points. In addition, the company works directly with users to identify operational problems and offer integrated solutions that adapt to varying conditions in both onshore and offshore operations.

Tailor-made solutions for marine terminals

One of the points addressed by Contino was the need to adapt offshore systems to different types of vessels. In this context, IOCS has developed multipurpose configurations capable of operating with vessels of different sizes, without the need to redesign the entire system each time.

To achieve this, the company performs static and dynamic analyses that allow predicting the behavior of each component in real conditions, including adverse weather and marine movement, thus ensuring structural integrity and extending the useful life of the equipment.

Innovation applied to predictive maintenance

IOCS applies a maintenance methodology based on periodic inspections and monitoring of critical indicators such as axial pressure or hose elongation. In a specific experience in Italy, the company helped its client to keep hoses operational for 10 years thanks to this detailed monitoring.

Every two years, the team extracts the components from the sea, performs physical tests and compares the results with previous data. This allows adjusting replacement or recertification decisions according to technical criteria, reducing costs and avoiding unexpected failures.

Integration of digital technology and intelligent sensors

Digitalization is also a pillar of IOCS' strategy, and one of its most outstanding developments is the remote tension control system for moorings, which allows the operator to check the load on the cables from a mobile application or from the control room.

This is especially useful in older structures where a complete renovation is not feasible, as this technology ensures operational safety without requiring large upfront investments. In addition, IOCS collaborates with hose manufacturers that integrate pressure and temperature sensors, providing critical real-time information to optimize decision making.

Commitment to the environment and international standards

Another relevant aspect is the attention that IOCS dedicates to environmental impact, because although it does not manufacture hoses, it works with certified suppliers that comply with standards such as ISO 45001, 14001 y 9001. It also extends the useful life of equipment in order to minimize both waste and emissions from the production of new components.

Perspectives and next steps

The participation of IOCS at SLOM 2025 reflected the company's comprehensive approach to addressing today's challenges in the Oil & Gas sector. From offshore systems retrofitting to mooring digitization and predictive maintenance, IOCS is positioned as a strategic partner for safer, more efficient and less environmentally impactful operations.
