Floatex presents its vision for energy transition at SLOM 2025

During the SLOM 2025 event held in Panama, Luca Facchetti, Floatex sales manager, shared the company's vision of the technical and environmental challenges posed by the energy transition in the maritime and offshore sectors. The interview revealed how this Italian company, with almost five decades of experience, is adapting its expertise and portfolio to respond to the new demands of a changing market.

A solid track record in the service of the energy sector

Founded in 1976 in Provaglio d'Iseo, Italy, Floatex has established itself as one of the leading manufacturers of floating solutions and flotation systems for coastal, offshore, dredging and shipping applications. Its product range includes everything from mooring buoys and chain floats to flotation modules for pipelines, subsea cabling and environmental monitoring systems.

Throughout its history, the company has stood out for incorporating rotomolded technology in its designs, subjecting its materials to rigorous mechanical tests and operating its own laboratory for quality control, validated by entities such as Lloyd's Register or RINA.

Adaptability as a value in the face of new energy challenges

The energy transition has brought with it a boom in projects such as offshore wind platforms, floating terminals for liquefied natural gas (LNG) and hybrid structures that combine traditional and renewable sources. In this new context, Floatex is committed to adaptability as the core of its value proposition.

According to Facchetti, the company builds on existing solutions and adapts them to more demanding environments, also designing specific components for projects that require custom engineering. This flexible approach allows them to collaborate on emerging energy developments without losing the robustness and reliability that characterizes its products.

"We always try to use proven ideas and adapt them to new projects. And if they don't exist, we design them with the sole objective of satisfying the client's needs."

Luca Facchetti explained.

Floating infrastructure for environmental monitoring

Although Floatex does not directly integrate smart sensors into its solutions, it has developed support buoys that allow environmental monitoring systems to be mounted. These buoys can house technology to measure air quality, water status or the effects of human activities on the marine environment.

Customer orientation as a driver of innovation

One of the main pillars highlighted during the interview was Floatex's strong customer focus. Facchetti explained that the development of new products is often based on the direct observations of operators in the field. Operational feedback allows the detection of failures or unmet needs, which are then analyzed internally to generate improvements.
