ALFAGOMMA presents marine hoses designed for fuels
During the first day of the SLOM 2025 event, held in Panama, Roberto Madia, Technical Manager of ALFAGOMMA, shared in an interview the company's most recent advances in the field of marine hoses and its vision for the Latin American region.
A portfolio designed for extreme environments
ALFAGOMMA, based in Italy, produces a wide range of floating and subsea marine hoses specifically designed for oil terminal and monobuoy operations. The plant located in Ortona has the capacity to manufacture products to API 17K requirements, one of the most stringent standards in the industry.
In addition, the company offers solutions with two different reinforcement technologies (textile and metallic) which allows to adapt to different applications according to the operational requirements of dynamic load, extreme pressure or corrosive environments.
Commitment to sustainability and new fuels
One of the most relevant aspects is the approach that ALFAGOMMA is adopting towards sustainable development; currently, its team is working on a new line of hoses designed for the transport of ammonia, a key alternative fuel for the energy transition.
According to Madia, this project will be ready by the middle of next year and responds to the growing global demand for solutions compatible with clean energy. Internally, the compounding area is also optimizing its rubber recipes to reduce the use of harmful chemicals, thus reaffirming its environmental commitment.
Incorporation of intelligent technologies
In terms of digitalization, ALFAGOMMA has already started to integrate wireless leak detection systems into its products. These systems enable constant monitoring of the installed hoses, improving operational safety in offshore terminals. In addition, the company recommends a periodic inspection program based on specific tests to determine the remaining useful life of the equipment.

Expansion into Latin America
According to Madia, the company ALFAGOMMA seeks to consolidate its presence in the Latin American market, expanding its network of contacts and adapting to local demands. "We want to better understand what the market needs and be prepared to offer it," said the executive.
The strategy includes not only products for the marine sector, but also industrial and hydraulic solutions, backed by a group with a global presence and a comprehensive offer for fluid transfer.
