Baker Hughes announced the signing of a multi-year contract with Petrobras to expand the deployment of the Blue Marlin and Blue Orca stimulation vessels. The agreement was the result of a public tender that includes the supply of chemicals and specialized services to optimize oil and gas production in Brazil’s post-salt and pre-salt fields.
Deployment of stimulation vessels
The Blue Marlin and Blue Orca vessels are designed for advanced chemical advanced chemical treatments that stimulate wells treatments that stimulate wells, maximizing production in brownfield and greenfield developments in multiple basins. In addition, they will support well construction through gravel packing and fracturing operations.
Both vessels integrate highly trained crews with onboard laboratories, high-pressure pumping systems and robust chemical storage systems. These capabilities allow multiple operations to be performed without the need to return to port, reducing downtime of offshore assets.
The agreement extends the deployment of the vessels, which have been operating in Brazil since 2008(Blue Marlin) and 2023(Blue Orca). Petrobras recently recognized its health, safety and environment(HSE) performance, with more than 650 perfect days recorded up to September 1.
Baker Hughes maintains an active localization active localization strategy in Brazil in Brazil, contributing to the country’s economic development. Most of the chemicals used by the vessels will be sourced locally, strengthening the national energy supply chain.
