Eco Wave Power applies BladeRanger drones to wave power maintenance

Intelligent drones clean and inspect floating systems to optimize performance and reduce CAPEX in coastal wave projects.
Drones autónomos

Eco Wave Power has entered into a strategic partnership with BladeRanger, incorporating autonomous drones in the maintenance of its onshore wave power systems. This alliance was demonstrated in the port of Jaffa, Israel, where the drones inspected and cleaned the floats, key elements for the conversion of wave energy into renewable into renewable electricity.

Lower costs and more control with autonomous drones

One of the biggest challenges for Eco Wave Power has been the operational cost associated with maintaining its facilities. At sites such as Gibraltar or the port of Jaffa, costs could reach up to 4% of annual CAPEX. With the integration of intelligent dronesthe company seeks to reduce these figures through predictive maintenance and automated cleaning.

The implementation of this solution is not an isolated event. Following the successful launch of the pilot in Los Angeles on September 9, the company plans to expand the use of drones in its projects in Portugal, India and Taiwan. This strategy aims to make its plants more competitive with other renewable sources.

Energy efficiency and sustainability aligned

BladeRanger has been recognized in the solar industry for its automated automated cleaning systems used by companies such as Nofar Energy. It is now expanding its horizon to the marine sector, developing drones adapted to demanding coastal environments and unique wave energy operating conditions.

The collaboration between the two companies is not limited to a one-off test. The design of a comprehensive solution combining real-time diagnostics, non-contact cleaning and minimal manual intervention is underway. If consolidated, this model could be replicated across Eco Wave Power’s entire 404.7 MW portfolio.

The use of drones in marine environments represents an innovation that aims not only to reduce costs, but also to improve the safety of personnel and the operational continuity of the systems. With this integration, Eco Wave Power reinforces its position as a leader in terrestrial wave energy with a technological and sustainable approach.
