McDermott secures deepwater subsea contract with PTTEP in Malaysia

McDermott signed a subsea contract with PTTEP Sabah Oil Limited, a company specializing in offshore projects, for the expansion of the Block H gas field offshore Sabah, East Malaysia.

Deepwater subsea expansion and contract

This contract provides for engineering, procurement, construction and installation(EPCI) services for a carbon steel carbon steel pipelineThe contract also includes the transportation and installation of umbilicals, risers and subsea flow lines(SURF). This network will be integrated into the system that supplies gas to Petronas’ floating liquefied natural gas plant, PFLNG Dua, from its last operation in 2021.

Management and engineering will be handled by McDermott ‘ssubsea and floatingfacilities team in Kuala Lumpur. For the offshore phases, the company will deploy its fleet of construction vessels, optimizing time and ensuring installation efficiency.

Block H is operated by PTTEP together with Petronas Carigali and Pertamina Malaysia Exploration Production. Furthermore, its development is aligned with Malaysia’s strategy to strengthen deepwater gas production, which will contribute to increasing domestic supply and sustaining the country’s energy security.
