Iberdrola and Selex Gruppo Commerciale have reached a long-term power purchase agreement(PPA) for 1,250 GWh of renewable electricity. The agreement will allow the Italian group’s associated companies to be supplied with solar photovoltaic energy for a period of ten years, starting in July 2026.

Energy distribution and supply in the Italian retail sector

Selex, the leading modern distribution conglomerate in Italy, has a network of more than 3,300 points of sale and well-known brands such as Famila, A&O and C+C. Through this contract, it will be able to ensure the sustainable electricity supply of its commercial network, stabilize part of its energy costs and advance its climate objectives.

This supply will come from photovoltaic plants plants with an installed capacity of 77 MW, which will contribute to reducing around 37,000 tons of CO₂ per year. This figure is equivalent to the absorption capacity of 1.5 million trees.

This agreement consolidates Iberdrola’s position in the PPA market in Italy, where it collaborates with companies such as BTicino, Bayer and Acciaierie Venete. With this strategy, the company strengthens its commitment to the electrification of the industrial sector and price stability for its customers.

Selex emphasizes that the contract allows the integration of a structured sustainability vision in the group’s energy management. They also consider that opting for a stable and clean supply model is important to face the volatility of the electricity market.
