Ocean Winds has chosen Siemens Gamesa to supply wind turbines for the BC-Wind offshore wind farm in the Polish Baltic Sea. This agreement represents a step forward in Poland’s decarbonization strategy, as the project will generate emission-free energy to supply more than 480,000 households.

High-capacity turbines for the BC-Wind project

This contract includes the supply of 26 SG 14-236 DD turbines, each with a nominal capacity of 14 MW and the possibility of increasing up to 15 MW through the Power Boost system. These units are IECRE certified, guaranteeing international quality and safety standards. The installation of the turbines is scheduled for 2028, to be carried out by Cadeler, which will use specialized ships from Terminal T5 of the Port of Gdansk.

The BC-Wind project, developed some 23 kilometers off the coast off Krokowa and Choczewo, is part of the first phase of offshore wind development in Poland. With a planned installed capacity of up to 390 MW, its implementation is a strategic step towards diversifying the country’s energy matrix and improving security of supply.

Ocean Winds, a joint venture of EDP Renewables and ENGIE, bases its decision on the positive experience with Siemens Gamesa in the Moray West project. Moray West. This contract includes long-term service and maintenance, ensuring reliable operation throughout the life of the wind farm. Final investment decisions are expected this year, with contracts for difference already awarded and environmental approvals underway.

Pre-assembly and loading logistics will be centralized at the Port of Gdanskwhich will serve as the base of operations. This aspect, together with the selection of the turbine supplier, is a point that favors the project schedule, approaching its final execution.
