Air Products drives Project NEON

The project will avoid five million tons of CO₂ per year.
Proyecto NEOM

Saudi Arabia is moving steadily forward in its commitment to green hydrogen. green hydrogen. Construction of the NEOM plant complex is currently 80% complete, covering both the installation of the energy infrastructure and the integration of key equipment.

NEOM project boosts green hydrogen

In detail, the project contemplates a generation network of 4 GW by means of solar and wind energy to be operational by mid-2026. The aim is to produce up to 600 tons per day of carbon-free hydrogen in the form of green ammonia, a solution intended for global export, industrial and transportation sectors.

For its part, Air Products leads as prime contractor and will be the sole purchaser of the green hydrogen generated at the mega-plant. In addition to the renewable generation facilities, the progress includes the arrival and assembly of wind turbines and wind turbines, hydrogen storageIn addition to the renewable generation facilities, progress includes the arrival and assembly of wind turbines, hydrogen storage vessels, electrolyzers, cold boxes and piping structures that will support the infrastructure.

In addition, the first ammonia product is expected to be available in 2027, consolidating NEOM as a benchmark in the energy transition and contributing significantly to the reduction of global emissions: the project aims to avoid the emission of approximately five million tons of CO₂ per year.
