During the recent LatinCORR conference in Panama, Arturo Flores, Hempel‘s Sales Director for Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America, shared the company’s main technological bets in marine and industrial coatings. Focusing mainly on the energy industry, Flores highlighted how the firm is leading solutions that combine efficiency, adaptability and environmental responsibility.
Technical innovation for demanding sectors
The company presented a series of new launches that respond to the most severe environments, such as new-generation silicones for the marine sector, which reduce friction on the hull of ships and help prevent the adhesion of marine organisms such as algae and mollusks. They also presented zinc-rich epoxy coatings, which act as a sacrificial anode thanks to the zinc, protecting the steel, under the Avantguard technology that improves the protective barrier, reinforces adhesion and extends the useful life of the coating.
In addition, they presented their new flame retardant coating for passive fire protection, designed for cellulosic fire, conventional building fires and hydrocarbons, and a new spray-applied insulation coating, which is applied by direct spraying and meets the highest international safety standards.
Increased durability and adaptability in critical conditions
One of the main benefits of Hempel’s solutions is the extension of the useful life of industrial assets. Arturo Flores explained that they are working with international standards to implement multilayer systems with a projected durability of up to 15 years, which would represent a significant reduction in maintenance costs for those assets that have this system.
On the other hand, Flores added that one of the main challenges for the company is to offer specific solutions for high corrosion environments, without compromising performance and safety, and for this, they have designed systems that minimize application time and maximize protection, adapting to different geographical and operational conditions; a valuable competitive advantage for operators seeking efficiency, regulatory compliance and environmental responsibility in a single supplier.

Commitment to sustainability
From its headquarters in Denmark, the company has established a department dedicated to reducingvolatile organic content (VOC) in its products and provides its customers with a calculation table to quantify the environmental impact of the coatings used.
This initiative, in addition to reinforcing transparency with customers, aligns Hempel’s solutions with the sustainability goals of its industrial partners. In addition, the company is incorporating organic materials that are less harmful to the planet, with a clear focus on responsible innovation.
A firm commitment to LATAM
The participation of Hempel in LatinCORR confirms its commitment to the industrial coatings market in Latin America. As regional representative, Arturo Flores has promoted a technical-commercial vision aimed at transforming the industrial sector through high-performance industrial coatings.
With more than 7,000 employees worldwide and a strong commitment to research, the company has established itself as a global benchmark in solutions for energy, offshore, infrastructure and marine applications. Its sustainable growth model, combined with cutting-edge technology, is making a tangible difference in the region.
