Peru promotes investment in hydrocarbons during the 23rd World Petroleum Congress

Eduardo González Toro, Minister of Energy and Mines of Peru, indicated that the Peruvian government promotes investments in hydrocarbons respecting the environment and communities, during his speech at the 23rd World Petroleum Congress, which takes place in Houston, USA. USA

In his speech, during the panel that addressed investment opportunities in hydrocarbons in Latin America, in the company of executives from Colombia and Trinidad and Tobago.

González Toro explained that Peru has a long oil tradition that dates back more than 150 years, when the first well was drilled in the northwest of the country, and indicated that so far more than 2,727 million barrels of crude oil have been produced in the country.

He also announced that work is being done to improve existing regulations, so that the country is more competitive and attractive for the exploration and exploitation of oil and gas, emphasizing respect and protection of the environment and communities.

Likewise, he confirmed that work is being done on the widespread use of natural gas, promoting the exploration of this resource, as well as the construction of distribution and transportation networks.

Finally, he explained that Perupetro is providing information to investors about the Madre de Dios basin, which adjoins the Camisea and Bolivia deposits, and that the search for oil and gas in the Peruvian sea will also be promoted.
