The methanol-powered subsea operation vessel, Rem Pioneer, designed to achieve zero direct emissions, was launched on June 27 at the Song Cam shipyard in Vietnam, ahead of the initial schedule.

TheRem Pioneer is a dual-fuel vessel designed for offshore operations. offshore operations with a clear commitment to sustainability. Equipped to sail with methanol as the primary energy source, it represents a tangible change in the way maritime emissions are addressed. This vessel will have the ability to operate without direct emissions in demanding offshore environments.
Construction of the hull continues apace, through collaboration between the Song Cam shipyard, VARD and Myklebust Verft. Final outfitting is expected to begin this fall in Norway. If the current schedule is maintained, final delivery of the vessel is projected for August 2026, reinforcing the efficiency of the construction process.
The vessel is a technological breakthrough and reaffirms Rem Offshore’ s real commitment to the transition towards cleaner maritime operations. The use of methanol as an alternative fuel makes it a strategic part of the global strategy to decarbonize the shipping industry.
