The United States will host a megaproject that will integrate clean energy sources and cutting-edge technology to power millions of users and artificial intelligence systems. artificial intelligence.
The Texas Tech University System (TTU System) and Fermi America announced an ambitious agreement to build a 5,800-acre campus in the Texas Panhandle. This development will integrate 18 million square feet of data centers dedicated to artificial intelligence, which will have a capacity of up to 11 gigawatts.
The campus will combine solar, wind, natural gas and clean nuclear power technology. Its goal is to provide a comprehensive solution to the growing demand for infrastructure for data-intensive processing and AI systems. Rick Perry, former U.S. Secretary of Energy and co-founder of Fermi America, noted that the initiative responds to a strategic need for national security and international competitiveness.
HiperGrid ™: state-of-the-art energy technology
Under the “HyperGrid ™” concept, the site will generate power and incorporate battery storage and grid connection. The location of the campus, close to natural gas natural gas fields and the Department of Energy’s Department of Energy’s Pantex plantplant, provides key strategic value.
It is important to mention that the project will offer research, job training and employment programs for students from the five universities that make up the TTU System. It will also include an academic center with classrooms, offices and conference rooms, strengthening the synergy between technology, energy and education.
The largest energy campus
As China builds 22 nuclear reactors, the United States is taking steps to accelerate its infrastructure development. The Fermi America campus could become the country’s largest nuclear complex, subject to regulatory review.
Fermi America will also support an excellence fund to advance the TTU System’s strategic priorities. This fund will seek to promote academic excellence, expand research capabilities and ensure student success in the context of a global energy transition.
