The new operation and commissioning service vessel, christened Windea Curie, is now an active part of the Bernhard Schulte Offshore (BSO) fleet, having been delivered by the Norwegian shipyard Ulstein Verft. Deployment has begun in the North Sea under contract with TenneT, a key European marine infrastructure operator.
Design, efficiency and sustainability of the Windea Curie
This CSOV incorporates the innovative Twin X-STERNdesign, characterized by twin bow and azimuthal propellers at both ends. This configuration enables superior performance in dynamic positioning (DP) maneuvers, key to offshore operations. offshore operations in adverse weather conditions. The vessel also features hybrid propulsion with batteries and is ready to operate on methanol, which significantly reduces its carbon footprint.
With a length of 89.6 meters and beam of 19.2 meters, the Windea Curie offers comfortable accommodation for up to 132 people, including window cabins for offshore personnel. Among its equipment are an adjustable and motion-compensated central gangway, a personnel elevator and a 3D technology crane capable of lifting up to 5 tons in open sea.
Commitment to European energy infrastructure
The collaboration between BSO and TenneT is strengthened with the addition of this new vessel, which facilitates access to offshore platforms in the North Sea. offshore platforms in the North Sea. Its improved operability responds to the growing demand for logistics solutions for offshore wind energy projects.
The Windea Curie is BSO’s fourth vessel with advanced offshore maintenance and support capabilities. offshore maintenance and support. Its twin will be delivered in 2025, further expanding the company’s service offering in the wind and oil and gas segments.
As part of BSO’s tradition of honoring scientific figures, this vessel is named after Marie Curie, noted for her contribution to physics and chemistry. The gesture reinforces the link between technology, science and sustainability within the maritime sector.
