A partnership between CarbonQuest and Daroga Power has given rise to the first carbon capture-as-a-service project in North America. This initiative marks a strategic shift for industries that need to reduce emissions without committing large capital investments.
The CarbonQuest and Daroga Power Pilot Plant
The initial project is being implemented at a beverage plant in Washington State. There, CarbonQuest’s modular system captures carbon dioxide directly at the point of emission. What is innovative is not only the technology, but the financial model: installation and operation require no upfront investment from the customer. Instead, Daroga Power assumes the cost through a multi-year agreement, thus ensuring the supply of low-cost liquid CO₂ and real-time traceability.
CarbonQuest’s distributed carbon capture system can be deployed in small to medium-sized plants, ideal for commercial, manufacturing or utility facilities. This approach avoids the transportation of gases, reducing the additional carbon footprint. In addition, the captured CO2 can be directly reused or sold to industries in need, promoting the circular economy.
CarbonQuest’s carbon management platform provides operational transparency by recording the exact volume of CO2 captured and reused. This traceability enables clients to meet environmental targets and ESG reporting with verifiable data.
The company C2Zero, owned by SER Capital Partners and Daroga Power, is responsible for the operation of the project. This structure allows scaling the proposal to multiple sectors, backed by a solid financial vision and a clear focus on sustainability.
According to executives from both companies, this scheme responds to an urgent need in the market: to facilitate access to carbon capture solutions without initial economic barriers. In addition, the model makes it possible to generate income through the valorization of the CO₂ captured.and consolidating an environmentally beneficial and economically viable system.
