With digital threats evolving rapidly, the American Petroleum Institute (API) has once again positioned itself at the forefront of cyber defense for the energy industry. The upcoming 20th Annual API Cybersecurity Conference, scheduled for November 11-12, 2025, in The Woodlands, Texas, is set to address critical challenges facing oil and gas infrastructure in the digital era.
American Petroleum Institute Annual Conference Details
Held annually since 2005, this API-led forum continues to be the only event specifically focused on cybersecurity in the oil and natural gas sector. This year’s theme, “Cyber Continuity,” underlines the growing importance of securing industrial systems against threats such as espionage, sabotage and supply chain vulnerabilities.
Through over 60 expert-led sessions across three tracks, the conference will cover topics including ICS/OT convergence, threat intelligence, incident response and AI in security. The agenda features keynotes from government leaders, academics and industry veterans, reinforcing the multi-stakeholder approach promoted by API.
Cyber continuity for energy resilience
Organized with a volunteer-based committee and speaker roster, the API Cybersecurity Conference fosters a unique collaborative atmosphere. Attendees can earn Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits while participating in in-depth discussions on best practices, compliance trends and risk management.
In addition to the technical program, networking receptions and a sponsor expo will provide space for solution providers and cybersecurity professionals to exchange insights and explore new technologies.
Strategic partnerships and sponsorships
API’s commitment is further reflected in its partnership model. The 2025 edition offers Diamond, Platinum and Gold sponsorship tiers, encouraging technology leaders to take part in building secure energy futures. Companies like Accenture, ZeroFox and PwC are among those featured in previous editions.
The event will take place at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott, with registration fees ranging from $595 to $895, depending on membership and affiliation. Registrants are encouraged to confirm early to benefit from discounted rates and secure accommodation before the October 20 deadline.
Exhibitor logistics and services
Exhibitors will have access to fully equipped 10’ x 8’ booths, including draped tables, chairs, signage, power outlets and complimentary WiFi. All booth setups must follow specified guidelines to ensure visibility and compliance. Set-up times begin on November 10, and teardown concludes the evening of November 12. Additional exhibitor staff registration is available, with badges granting access to all sessions and networking events. Materials must be shipped to the Freeman warehouse rather than the hotel, and all exhibitor coordination is managed through a dedicated portal.
By bringing together IT professionals, OT operators, compliance officers and decision-makers, the American Petroleum Institute continues to define cybersecurity standards for the energy sector.
