During the PANNDT event, Olivier Lemaire, Sales Director of Balteau NDT, shared with the Inspenet team the vision of a company with firm roots and a vision for the future of industrial digital radiography. Founded in 1906 in Belgium, the company went from manufacturing high voltage transformers to become a pioneer in X-ray technology for non-destructive inspection and today, its equipment is present in more than 105 countries, with a network of local agents that guarantee close and specialized technical support.
Technical innovation backed by experience
Balteau NDT maintains its leadership by developing industrial digital radiography solutions adapted to various operational requirements. Lemaire remarked that reliability in extreme conditions is one of its pillars.
Reliability is one of our main objectives. That’s why our devices are really reliable in difficult terrain. That’s why we work hard and do our best to achieve it.
Olivier Lemaire.
In terms of image resolution and energy efficiency, Balteau seeks to remain competitive with the rest of the market. CP (constant potential) generators and digital flat panels are part of its portfolio, guaranteeing accurate results in both portable and stationary solutions.
Connected radiography for critical infrastructures
One of the key themes in the interview was the transition to connected environments, of which Balteau is taking part with the development of integrations with platforms for Industry 4.0 y predictive maintenance in sectors where reliability is critical, such as the oil and gas and aerospace industries. The incorporation of software, digitalization and connectivity will allow its customers to anticipate failures, optimize resources and increase the traceability of their inspections.

Portability without sacrificing power or security
Balteau NDT has achieved consolidation in both stationary and portable solutions, and although their fixed systems are already well-developed, they are currently prioritizing improvements in portable devices for field inspections.
One of the advances mentioned was the incorporation of batteries and increased power without affecting ergonomics, with the aim of facilitating the rapid deployment of equipment in remote or difficult-to-access areas, with professional quality results and high repeatability. This strategy makes it possible to cover a wide range of applications from pipeline welding inspections to aeronautics, always guaranteeing operational versatility and image quality.
User safety at the core
In a context where sustainability and occupational health are becoming increasingly important, Balteau makes safety its priority. As a European company, its devices comply with the most stringent regulations in terms of radiological exposure and energy consumption.
We always try to make the security of our customers our first objective. […] The most important thing is to protect the users and for that we have some security devices, some detection devices, some exposure device calculators, so all the keys are in the user’s hands for security.
Olivier Lemaire.
These tools allow operators to maintain total control of the process and minimize risks at all times, strengthening the culture of prevention.
Future projection: digitization with practicality
The company combines advanced technology with a close service model that, depending on the country, operates through local agents or directly, which in both cases ensure technical support throughout the life cycle of the equipment.
Looking ahead, Balteau NDT will continue to focus on industrial digital radiography solutions that adapt to changing times. The balance between robustness, ease of use and effective digitization is the path chosen by the Belgian company.
