The ANYbotics company has introduced an innovative extension for its inspection robot ANYmal which can detect gas leaks and monitor their presence in industrial facilities in an automated way. This solution combines advanced modular sensors and a 360° acoustic imaging camera to locate and quantify leaks of common industrial gases such as hydrocarbons, steam or compressed air.

How does ANYmal detect gas leaks?

Thanks to their modular architecture, ANYmal sensors can be configured for different types of gas, from oxygen to ammonia. ammonia with the possibility of field calibration. This flexibility makes the robot a platform adaptable to different missions and environments. When a leak is detected, the system estimates the loss rate and associated economic impact, sending the data directly to the ANYbotics “Data Navigator ANYbotics” Data Navigator platform.

The robot-mounted acoustic imaging camera extends the scope of inspection to hard-to-reach areas, overcoming the limitations of static sensors. This is especially relevant in petrochemical plants or power facilities, where undetected leaks can represent high costs and safety risks.

Our new leak and gas detection solution is revolutionary in industrial leak detection and prevention. By combining ANYmal’s autonomous navigation with modular gas detectors and a 360° acoustic imaging payload, we offer a powerful and flexible tool that significantly improves safety and generates significant cost savings for our customers. Our autonomous mobile robots can now detect the source of leaks, quantify losses and alert personnel in real time.

says Péter Fankhauser, CEO of ANYbotics.

More frequent, accurate and safe inspections

Traditional inspections tend to be irregular and unreliable. ANYmal’s system offers constant, autonomous or teleoperated monitoring, with programmable alarms in case of overexposure. This reduces the need for human intervention in hazardous environments and improves the frequency and quality of inspections.

Continuous data collection makes it possible to detect trends and anticipate failures before they occur. This predictive capability contributes to better maintenance planning, emissions reduction and environmental compliance. It also optimizes resources by minimizing energy and product losses.
