As part of PANNDT 2025, Andrea Zois, sales representative for IR Supplies and Services, shared with Inspenet her insights on the company’s growth, the transformation of the non-destructive testing (NDT) sector and the key role that industrial radiography plays in Canadian industry. Founded 20 years ago in Edmonton, IR has evolved into a comprehensive provider of specialized NDT products and services, with an established presence across Canada.

Comprehensive offer for the NDT sector

IR Supplies and Services stands out for offering a complete solution in the field of non-destructive testing, with an extensive line of products, including equipment for industrial radiography, ultrasound, hardness testing, magnetic particle inspection (MPI), liquid penetrant inspection (LPI), and liquid penetrant inspection (LPI), as well as Eddy current technologies and metallurgical testing. The company also offers maintenance, calibration and training services, covering all the technical needs of the industry.

Their own brand, Exposure, allows them to offer tailored solutions, while their commitment to development and research positions them as a strategic partner for companies seeking innovation and reliability in their inspection processes.

From film to digital industrial radiography

The industrial radiography sector is undergoing a major transformation that is reflected in the fact that more and more companies are migrating from traditional film to computed radiography (CR) and digital radiography (DR) systems. These systems allow for greater efficiency, digital image storage, shorter inspection time and a reduction in the use of chemicals. The company has been able to adapt to this trend, positioning itself as a key supplier in this technological transition.

Another key benefit is the ability to perform real-time benchmarking, which improves technical decision making and significantly reduces downtime in industrial plants. DR technology, in particular, has gained prominence in industries such as nuclear power and aerospace manufacturing, where accuracy and documentation are critical.

During the show, its booth included a display of DR and CR systems, demonstrating its commitment to cutting-edge technology. This initiative not only responds to market demand, but also reflects IR’s commitment to the evolution of industrial radiography in Canada.

Strategic alliances and specialized distribution

One of the pillars of IR’s success is its network of commercial partners, to whom it distributes equipment from more than a dozen internationally recognized brands. Among them are Comet and Enteladine for X-ray tubes, SciAps for portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometers (PMI), Labino for MPI and LPI inspection lights, and Sonatest and Danatronics for ultrasound.

These alliances allow them to offer at least two options for each type of product, providing flexibility and alternatives to their customers. Although their main focus is in Canada, some brands authorize them to sell in the United States, as is the case with Labino.

Towards a more agile and connected NDT industry

IR Supplies and Services has proven to be more than a supplier; its evolution towards a digital offer, its national structure and its ability to adapt to different industrial sectors consolidate its leadership in the industrial radiography market in Canada. The vision shared by Andrea Zois reflects not only the company’s present, but also the direction in which it is heading, a future where technology, service and customer proximity will set the standard in the world of non-destructive testing.
