The second day of the PANNDT 2025 conference began with an energetic opening ceremony at the Avalon Theater in Niagara Falls. The welcome was given by Cheryl Pounder, Olympic medalist and Canadian sports figure, who captivated attendees with a message of motivation, leadership and self-improvement that set an inspiring mood for the rest of the day.
Martin Theriault then took the stage to share a bold perspective on the future of nondestructive testing. His lecture addressed emerging technologies that are transforming the industry, from artificial intelligence to advanced sensors, and how these tools are redefining inspection and quality control standards.
Challenges and opportunities in the education of NDTs
One of the key moments of the day was the international panel on non-destructive testing (NDT) education, where representatives from institutions in North America, South America and Europe discussed the challenges faced by universities and training centers in adapting to changes in the industry. The discussion revolved around the need to update curricula, strengthen alliances with industry and promote continuing education in a rapidly evolving field.

Business, technology and leadership
During the day, the Inspenet team toured the exhibition area where more than 100 international experts from companies in Canada, the United States and other countries showcased their technological advances and shared experiences with attendees. In addition, the team had the opportunity to interview, exclusively, Neil Couture, executive director of ASNT (The American Society for Nondestructive Testing), who commented on the organization’s plans, the international outlook and the importance of strengthening the professional certification, through the participation of young people to ensure the continuity and growth of the discipline.
Networking in a historic environment
The day closed with a social event at the iconic Niagara Parks Power Station, where attendees from different countries shared a space for relaxation and networking, combining entertainment with valuable professional networking opportunities in one of Ontario’s most iconic settings. This relaxed atmosphere allowed for closer ties between industry experts, facilitating the exchange of ideas and the initiation of future collaborations.
