GE Aerospace strengthens hypersonic test centers with new technology

GE Aerospace has confirmed a major expansion at its three hypersonic test centers, reinforcing its position as a key player in the development of advanced propulsion systems. The upgrades, distributed between Evendale (Ohio), Bohemia (New York) and Niskayuna (New York), are designed to increase engine test capability at higher Mach speeds and replicate real flight conditions with greater accuracy.

GE hypersonic test centers increase Mach capacity

At Evendale, the company is expanding one of its key facilities to support larger hypersonic propulsion systems. This upgrade includes the ability to test at significantly higher Mach numbers and perform more realistic flight simulations, a crucial factor for defense and next-generation aviation aviation applications.

The plant in Bohemia is benefiting from the technological integration resulting from the acquisition of Innoveering in 2022. This upgrade boosts the company’s ability to work with stator reactors and other in-flow combustion devices, which are essential for hypersonic speeds.

At the Niskayuna Research Center, testing capabilities have been strengthened to encompass more complex systems and evaluate emerging technologies in propulsion. Results that support strategic investment
