Wavemaker® G5 now available from GUL

The Wavemaker® G5 has been available worldwide since May 15, 2025.
G5 for Guided Wave Testing

Guided Ultrasonics Ltd. (GUL) has announced the global release of its most advanced guided wave testing (GWT) instrument, the Wavemaker® G5. The G5 ushers in a new standard for pipeline screening by combining upgraded hardware with intuitive software, while maintaining compatibility with existing GUL equipment and workflows.

Smarter Guided Wave Testing

With over 25 years of field application behind its development, the Wavemaker® G5 introduces key improvements in mobility, performance, and usability:

  • Rugged, Field‑Ready Design

Built for challenging environments—from offshore platforms to buried pipelines—the G5 features a glove‑compatible ultra‑bright touchscreen, IP54‑designed enclosure, and dual hot‑swappable batteries for uninterrupted operation.

  • Powerful Onboard Computing

Powered by WaveProX™, the G5 guides inspectors through procedure‑based collections for consistent, efficient testing. For additional flexibility, control via WaveProV™ on an external laptop continues to be supported.

  • Intelligent Asset Integration

A newly engineered instrument‑to‑sensor cable supports all GUL Screening Rings and non‑ATEX gPIMS® Monitoring Sensors. In addition to reading ring size and serial number from all connected rings, the G5 detects configuration, orientation, pressure, and temperature when used with rings featuring the latest sensor technology—simplifying setup and increasing reliability.

What sets the G5 apart

  • Enhanced Performance

When paired with Compact™ rings, the G5 simultaneously collects standard and high‑frequency screening data—TRIO module support. This combined acquisition reduces on-site time, improves detection accuracy, and streamlines reporting.

  • User-Friendly Operation

A guided interface supports technicians of all levels, enabling faster onboarding and more efficient inspections with less oversight.

  • Flexible Platform

The G5 supports remote calibration and software updates, helping to reduce downtime. Designed for forward compatibility, it will also support new sensor features and technologies as they become available.

The Wavemaker® G5 has been available worldwide since May 15, 2025.
