Penspen strengthens its presence in Aberdeen with new office focused on energy transition

The facility will house more than 200 engineering specialists.

The global engineering firm Penspen has opened a new headquarters at Balmoral Business Park in Aberdeen as part of its growth strategy in the North East of the UK. This expansion consolidates the operational integration of C&I Engineering Solutions, a company acquired by Pensp e n in October 2024.

Located just a few kilometers from the urban center, the facility will house more than 200 engineering specialists, with a focus on infrastructure projects for the energy transition. From this base, the local team will lead critical developments such as the detailed engineering of the gas pipeline CO₂ HyNet transport pipeline in Liverpool and compatibility analysis for hydrogen injection into the Trans Adriatic Pipeline.

Darren Bartlett, Penspen’s Director of Engineering and Energy Transition, had this to say.

Aberdeen is a key hub for us, a region where we have a strong presence and long-standing relationships with key customers. This move reflects both our track record in the Northeast and our continued commitment to its future.

The new headquarters will also serve as a technical training center for carbon capture and storage technologies. carbon capture and reuse and reuse of energy infrastructures. This commitment responds to the growing demand for sustainable solutions and the need to adapt existing assets to fuels with a lower carbon footprint.

Penspen, with more than 70 years of experience and a presence in more than 100 countries, has experienced remarkable growth in recent years. Its workforce has grown from 750 employees in 2019 to more than 1,200 today, including 200 operating out of Aberdeen.
