Huawei and UBTECH have entered into a strategic alliance aimed at transforming the humanoid robotics landscape in China. humanoid robotics landscape in China. The two Shenzhen-based companies aim to drive the development of humanoid and wheeled robots suited to both industrial and domestic environments.
As part of the agreement, Huawei will contribute its technological capabilities through its Ascend and Kunpeng chips, in addition to advanced solutions in Huawei Cloud and large-scale language models. The goal is to build an innovation center focused on “embodied intelligence,” which will enable robots to better understand their physical environment.
UBTECH provides the body, Huawei the brains
While UBTECH brings its expertise in android and service robot design, Huawei provides the computing, connectivity and intelligent processing infrastructure. This collaboration aims to accelerate the practical adoption of humanoid robots in everyday household household tasks and plant operations.
UBTECH plans to manufacture 1,000 humanoid robots this year, in a bid to respond to the growing demand for automated solutions in China. Huawei, for its part, has already announced partnerships with more than a dozen robotics companies and unveiled a 5G-A-powered robot capable of performing business functions in real time.
Humanoid robots in the classroom, at home and in industry
The robotics company is also advancing the integration of AI in education, elderly care and smart logistics. The shared vision points to a China with greater technological autonomy, where androids will progressively androids are progressively integrated in different aspects of daily life.
This alliance is in response to the state’s drive to make China a global powerhouse in artificial intelligence. The transition of robots from laboratory environments to real applications is being promoted as a national priority. Huawei and UBTECH are thus at the center of this transformation.
