The Swiss company Allseas has decided to strengthen its maritime fleet with the addition of two new offshore construction vessels(OCVs), as a strategic move aimed at expanding its operational capabilities.

Expansion of the fleet with offshore construction vessels

With contracts signed on April 9, these vessels will be built by Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group in China, and are scheduled for delivery in September and December 2026, respectively. Both vessels are based on the SALT 308 OCV design, incorporating state-of-the-art technical technologies to more effectively address complex subsea infrastructure projects.

Each unit will have a length of 100 meters, a cargo deck of 1,100 m² and the capacity to accommodate 110 people. It also includes a DP2 dynamic positioning system, a crane with an active lifting capacity of 150 tons, a hangar with space for two remotely operated vehicles(ROVs), and a hybrid energy storage system with 1,500 kWh batteries. In addition, they will be ready to operate with methanol-compatible propulsion, reinforcing their future adaptability to sustainable fuels.

With this investment, Allseas increases its fleet, and gains greater flexibility to redeploy its current resources to more demanding operations. As Dries van Strijp, vice president of operations, explained, this decision was the result of a thorough evaluation of how to optimize the company’s overall performance in the face of project growth in offshore sectors.

The addition of these OCV units allows Allseas to release existing vessels for larger assignments, while the new ones focus on inspection, maintenance and ROV support, which are increasingly required in global energy development.

Allseas’ approach responds to the need to evolve technologically and adapt to the constant demand for sustainable and efficient offshore solutions. The company thus strengthens its commitment to innovation and sustainability, integrating versatile vessels to accompany its long-term global development strategy.
