TotalEnergies has taken a firm step forward in its global LNG strategy. liquefied natural gas by signing a preliminary agreement with Energía Natural Dominicana (ENADOM), a company comprising AES Dominicana and Energas. The agreement contemplates the supply of 400,000 tons of LNG per year for 15 years, with a scheduled start-up in mid-2027 and prices indexed to the Henry Hub.
LNG supply reduces coal use in the country
The energy from this contract will be used to supply the new combined cycle power plant. combined cycle power plant 470 MW combined cycle power plant under construction in the country. This infrastructure will represent a substantial increase in electricity generation capacity, allowing the Dominican Republic to reduce its dependence on sources such as coal and fuel oil.
This agreement represents a decisive step forward for the Dominican Republic on its path towards a cleaner, safer and more efficient energy matrix, strategically integrating itself into the global energy landscape.
TotalEnergies’ Commitment to Sustainability
TotalEnergies, the third-largest global player in LNG, maintains its goal of having natural gas account for nearly 50% of its sales portfolio by 2030. The company is also actively working to reduce carbon emissions and eliminate methane leakage associated with the gas value chain.
With a liquefaction portfolio reaching 40 Mt/year, presence in more than 120 countries and access to more than 20 Mt/year of regasification in Europe, TotalEnergies continues to consolidate its leadership in the transition to energy with a lower carbon footprint.

On the other hand, Edwin De los Santos, Executive Director of ENADOMsaid that this alliance reflects the confidence in the local energy sector. ENADOM thus reaffirms its role as a fundamental pillar in the expansion of the Dominican energy matrix, betting on a competitive, environmentally responsible and safe supply.
