Vallourec, a global leader in seamless tubular solutions, has secured a strategic contract with Allseas to supply carbon steel pipes for the Búzios 10 project in Brazil. This transaction, promoted by state-owned oil company Petrobras, consolidates the French company’s key role in the South American country’s deepwater operations .
100% local carbon steel pipes with a sustainable approach
The pipes, which will have an initial production capacity of 18,000 tons with an additional option for 5,000 tons, will be produced entirely at the Vallourec plant in Jeceaba (Minas Gerais). This decision allows for a high level of local content and contributes to minimizing the operation’s carbon footprint.
In addition to physical supplies, the contract includes the implementation of Pipe Navigator , a digital platform that centralizes technical documentation and facilitates real-time project monitoring . This tool has been recognized by Allseas as an essential component for efficient supply chain management.
Petrobras accelerates pre-salt development
The Búzios field, located off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, is one of the largest deepwater fields in the world. Its production will be substantially increased with the addition of five new production units planned through 2028.
With this contract, the company reaffirms its commitment to the Brazilian market , aligning its industrial strategy with the complex needs of offshore exploration and production in the pre-salt. Philippe Guillemot, CEO of the group, emphasized the importance of the agreement as ” a tangible result of the investments aimed at modernizing our industrial capabilities in Brazil .”
Technology exports and regional consolidation
The agreement also strengthens Vallourec’s regional presence, which has made Brazil one of its strategic production centers for supplying complex projects in Latin America. The company continues to focus on innovation, digitalization, and local development as pillars to maintain its competitiveness in a changing global market.
