At the AMPP trade show, Tinker & Rasor once again demonstrated why it remains a benchmark in the world of cathodic protection, now incorporating smart inspection. During the interview with Mark J. Byerley Sr., the company’s CEO, he shared the company’s vision and the latest advancements in its product portfolio.

Innovation focused on the field technician

Since its founding in 1948, Tinker & Rasor has maintained a clear focus on developing tools that facilitate and optimize inspection work. Today, with over 76 years of experience, the company is firmly committed to smarter, lighter, and more durable solutions designed for the demanding environment of field technicians.

Among this year’s most notable new features is the introduction of new data canes and voltmeter canes made entirely of carbon fiber. These devices are not only ultralight but also integrate compatibility with tablets up to 10 inches, allowing the use of digital platforms such as the Mesa Tablet. The idea is to make data capture and management in the field as fluid as it is precise.

Technology adapted to new demands

Another significant advancement is the redesign of the half-cells, a tool that now allows technicians to directly observe the internal state of the equipment without having to disassemble it. This improvement translates into time savings, greater accuracy, and easier diagnosis.

In addition, the company has launched cable reels with capacities of up to 500 feet, equipped with an accessory that allows a Makita or Milwaukee drill to be connected for quick cable reeling. This seemingly simple detail makes a huge difference in productivity.

Constant renewal and a look to the future

Mark Byerley explained that every two to three years they review and improve their core product lines, including porosity detectors and cathodic protection equipment. This constant pace of evolution reflects Tinker & Rasor’s commitment to quality and operational efficiency.

Looking ahead, the company plans to continue expanding its cathodic protection inspection segment, with tools that not only meet today’s needs but also anticipate those of tomorrow.

Active presence and connection with the sector

Tinker & Rasor’s regular participation in events like AMPP demonstrates its commitment to the technical community. These opportunities serve to showcase its products and listen to market needs firsthand.
