The German company Liebherr has supplied two offshore cranes from its compact RL series for the floating production unit FPSO Agogo, which will operate off the coast of Angola. These are the RL 2600 and RL-K 2600 models, designed for extreme conditions and limited space on offshore platforms.

These cranes were ordered by Yinson Production, a company specializing in floating operations, which recently signed a contract to manage the Agogo FPSO in collaboration with Azule Energy. The latter is a joint venture between BP and Eni and is consolidating its position as the largest independent oil and gas operator in Angola.

High-performance technology for the Agogo FPSO

The RL 2600 model is optimized for ease of maintenance and continuous operation. Its compact design reduces the turning radius and overall height of the structure, improving its adaptability in demanding marine conditions. The RL-K 2600 crane features an articulated boom with mechanical transmission, ideal for areas with limited space and with the option of customizing its length to suit the customer’s needs.

Both cranes have a lifting capacity of up to 30 tons and reach over 30 meters, establishing themselves as robust solutions for offshore environments. Furthermore, their modular design facilitates agile and safe installation onboard the floating vessel.

This project represents the second joint effort between Yinson Production and Liebherr, following their initial collaboration in 2016. With the Agogo FPSO, Yinson’s fleet of floating units has grown to eight, marking its operational entry into Angolan territory.

Once operational, the cranes will be maintained and technically supported by Liebherr Portugal, ensuring rapid response times and specialized field support.

With this delivery, Liebherr reaffirms its commitment to lifting solutions tailored to the challenges of the offshore industry, strengthening its presence in a key region for the development of marine energy.
