On March 21, 2025, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore ( MPA ) signed an agreement to collaborate on emissions reduction and maritime digitalization. This agreement establishes a framework for information exchange and the joint implementation of initiatives focused on green practices and digital advancements in port operations.
Maritime digitalization and decarbonization
During the State Visit of the President of Singapore to Belgium on March 25, the agreement was formally exchanged between representatives of both entities, underscoring the importance of this strategic alliance.
Jacques Vandermeiren, CEO of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, emphasized that this agreement represents a step forward in the sector’s energy and digital transition. Teo Eng Dih, CEO of the MPA, emphasized that cooperation and knowledge sharing are essential to driving innovation and achieving sustainability in the maritime sector .
Johan Klaps, Deputy Mayor of Antwerp and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, emphasized that this collaboration will enable both ports to address common challenges and evolve into efficient and environmentally friendly economic centers.
